The local village, approx. 5km away. Has all the local amenities
you will need, including cafe/bar and restaurants, shops, school,
gendarmerie and petrol station.
MARCIAC
Small local town with a good market. Known for its Jazz Festival
in August, run for over 25 years and attracting some of the biggest
names in Jazz. Approx. 10km.
LAVARDENS
A good example of a beautiful hill-town in the Gers region.
VIC-FESENAC
Small market town, approx. 20km away. Good market on Fridays. Also
known for its Tempo Latino festival in July.
AUCH
The main town in the Gers region, beautiful Auch sits on a hill
overlooking the Gers river. Known for its cathedral, the statue
of d'Artagnan, museums, medieval streets, shops and cafes. Approx.
30km away.
GERS
The surrounding countryside is in itself a wonderful feature of
the region - beautiful rolling hills, tree-lined roads, small hilltop
villages, local farms and vineyards producing foie gras, armagnac
and wine.
TOULOUSE
The biggest city in the region, Toulouse is a wonderfully vibrant
city, with a good mix of people due to the combination of tourism,
industry and the university. Known also for its distinctive brick-architecture,
the Garonne river and the canal du midi which runs through the city.
Good connections to the rest of France and Europe (see below for
flight information). Approx. 100km away.
PAU
Sometimes known as the 'Paris of the South', Pau is a smart and
stylish city built in the foothills of the Pyrenees. A good place
to visit, it is approx. 70km away. Good connections to the rest

PYRENEES
The stunning line of mountains is one of the highlights
of the region - beyond Tarbes and Pau you will find yourself climbing
into the mountains, a draw in both summer and winter.
GETTING
THERE
Bassoues is situated approx. 70km from Pau airport and 100km from
Toulouse airport. Both provide excellent cheap and regular flights
to the UK.
